I'm curious, are you arguing that Sony didn't expect higher? Are you saying Killzone 2 met sales expectations? If so, have a source to prove it? If not, just accept the reality. The game underperformed, no two ways about it. That's not to take anything from it, it's still one of the better FPS games to play this gen, IMO. But that didn't turn into the success that was expected of it. Now on the issue of profit, I have no doubt that it did. I just don't believe that it brought in what they wanted. |
I remember sony saying they were pleased with KZ2 sales after NPD report came out. Accept reality? Is sourcing an unreliable source who sources an "unamed" and "unconfirmed" source reality? Reality says Sony is a business and business don't look at other games with a high fanbase outside of the genre of game they are making and expect the same from a game that sold 2 million on its first attempt.
Sony would be looking at the HAZES, Resistances, previous Killzones, and the likes. I've been working at Target and I just asked the store manager how they come to their forcasts. She told me they look at their sales from the previous year and compare them to recent sales trends. That was the same exact way I came up with my forcasts when I ran little caesars and same exact way Toys R Us did it.
