Sony did expect MGS4-like numbers: http://www.vg247.com/2009/01/07/sony-expects-killzone-2-to-fair-better-than-mgs4/

It underperformed in sales, so perhaps it didn't rake in as much profit as desired.

???

Isn't that the "inside source that shall remain nameless"

Either way your source sources a source that no longer exists.

Plenty of sources received the same info. Sony expected bigger numbers, bottomline. They didn't achieve it. It happens.

"V For Video Games recently spoke to a Sony representative who says they fully expect Guerilla's hugely anticipated title to eclipse the sales mark of MGS4"

"Speaking to V for Video Games, a Sony spokesperson had the following to say on the situation"

"An unnamed and unconfirmed Sony employee reportedly told game site V For Video Games"

Trust me. Its more than likely sony expected it to perform more like KZ than MGS4.

This is exactly like the "60 million budget" crap. Surfer Girl bloged it and all the "news" sites reported it and sourced her or another site who sourced her. Just because you are using a published source doesn't mean its true. If I publish "Obama was assissinated earlier this morning" and everyone starts sourceing me doesn't mean shit no matter how many people republish it.
