She is a real judge. The cases are real. It's an arbitration but not a court. It's not as you described it, where the people involved are actors and the cases scripted.
PS, did Judge Judy piss in your cornflakes? |
1) No she is a former judge. And she was a shitty judge if she behaved in court when she was real judge like she does at her show now. It's disgusting and unprofessional. I agree with this qoute about her from wiki article: "She is a disgrace to the profession. She does things I don't think a judge should do. She tells people to shut up. She's rude. She's arrogant. She demeans people. If she does this on purpose, then that's even worse. Judges need to observe certain standards of conduct. She just doesn't do it and I resent that. The public is apt to gain the impression that this is how actual judges conduct themselves. It says 'judge' on the nameplate on the bench and she's wearing a robe." Other then that I don't care about her, and I don't eat cornflakes btw.
2) How do you know that every case is real? They don't take them from legal system, they r simply submitted via phone or website. It's not that hard for two people who want to get on TV to "create" some case, considering they both will get money for it and 1 will get reward.
3) It's not even an arbitration, bc "judge" determines who will get award from show producers not from one of the sides. So the case cannot be even lost. It has nothing to do with justice. Judges power lies strictly in the terms of waiver both sides agree on and her decisions mean nothing de jure outside of this show.
4) you misunderstood my first post I didn't claim people involved in this are actors and that case is scripted. I was referring to this kind of shows in general and worldwide. sorry if I didn't make it clear enough.
