The fact Sony has a new RSX is probably so they can keep the PS3 at 300 with move+eye and all that stuff for that price. I don't think Sony will have a price drop but they will keep everything at the price now, and we know the price now is working with how well the PS3 is selling.

Another thing is I don't understand why people are calling it a slim 360 when all they are doing, as well, is shrinking the intrenal stuff, most likely the 360 will look the same, stay at the same price and bundle natal with it so they can make a huge profit. I mean it's MS, they want a big profit I'm sure, just like the others want.

I could even say since Sony is making this new RSX available, that this E3 will be the release of the real Slim PS3 and it will be bundled with the move, pseye, and DS3, for just 250. See I can make thinks up too.

i just searched,and yes Sony is still not branding it as a Slim.They have said it is a sim but not selling it as a slim.they are selling as PS3 120gb and PS3 250gb.Didn't know that.PS2 slim is selling as PS2 SLIM but are PS2's boxes say slim?My box is in storage so can't check it out.

 

Anyways i was expecting PS3 SLIM in 2012 with power brick out.

 

I Think PS3 will only have a price cut this year if 360 has one and has a big impact with it,and 360 arcade will probably have one  to $149.If it doesn't do much then PS3 price cut won't happen.IF it has Impact PS3 will price Move bundle at $299 which will make $30 loss at most and reduce PS3 standloe to $249 to compete.

I also expect another PS3 slim down once they move towards 22nm chip sets which should first see the light of day sometime in 2011 so another slimer PS3 with small power brick by 2012 is highly possible I hope they keep the slot drive top loading like the PS2 slim would be silly.  I don't think they will sell that model as a slim either they already changed the lettering and logo once and I don't think they will do it another time.

yeah,i love the slot loader and yeah 22nm is possible straight and i think Toshiba will do that and RSX by 2012.Aony didn't want the 32nm thing.

 

They won't change the lettering and log,that was just done with PS3 cause PS3's maket image wasn't good at that time.They will just follow like they did with PS1 and PS2.

 

Lightning_24 was saying they will sell it as a SLIM cause PS2 is being sold as PS2 SLIM and they have that written on their boxes and also online they are selling it as PS2 slim but they are selling PS3 still as PS3 120GB AND PS3 250GB and not as PS3 SLIM 120gb.

I think if Cell and RSX get down to 32 nm each, that will be sufficient to have a slim v2.0, of course revisions will keep going - 22nm Cell and RSX maybe integrated chip - but it'll just be put onto the motherboard. If Sony waits until both Cell and RSX are 22nm, i.e. 2012-2013, it might be too late for a slim v2.0 to have any kind of major impact, the Cell will probably be 32nm this Fall and RSX will be 32nm next Spring for a slim v2.0 with external PSU for Fall 2011 for U$199, it'll probably be the size of the PSTwo or something, maybe when they move down to 22nm they can add SSD for storage instead of HDD since that'll be cheaper in 2013 as well.

 

There probably won't be any price drops this year, PS3 will be bundled with move, eye and game for U$299 and U$349 for 120GB and 250GB, 360 elite slim will be bundled with Natal for U$249-U$299, 360 arcade Natal bundle will be U$149-U$199. It depends if MS wants to be extra agressive and cut U$50 on the price of the bundle, they are profitable on the entertainment division now so they have room for that if they want.

I think they will be aiming for Cell and RSX reduction for introduction of True SLIM but i think they would would be able to do it with 32nm CELL and ouside power brick and then later introduce 32nm RSX for cost saving..

 

22nm for sure will take time and Sony if they can should  implement 32nm which will help them save costs. but R&D also costs them and Sony actually was worling straight on 32nm back in 2008 which they canceled and went to 45nm CELL.If they can go and get 22nm CELL by fall 2011 and outside PSU,they could save R&D and produce slim and make more profit then.As PS3 will already be making profit after 40nm RSX.

 

PS3 will remain the same price this year except if 360 cut arcade to $149 which is alot likely and if it has impact.They will bundle move at $299 but if they get impacted by arcade 360,they as are making profit with RSX 40nm and probably 32nm CELL and other HW cost reduction would be making a profit,they could reduce the standalone PS3 to 249$ but this again only if Arcade with probably Slim has impact and Sony don't want to go behind this time
