Before you buy a new console, remove the Hard Drive and connect it to your computer with an external case or the appropriate cables and see if the PC can detect it as functioning properly. It's possible the hard Drive is fried which if that is the case means you can't keep your saves.
Also the ps3 can have issues using a standard TV after using an HD tv. but since you've tried to reset it, I doubt thats the issue.
HDMI carried sound and video, so a lost port would likely lose both, it's not like VGA as someone else suggested where you get magenta and green pixelation. Try the other video out port, maybe the hdmi has failed, if this is the case you can at least copy saves in sd mode.
If you can't get any video at all either the GPU is sending corrupt data or the Hard Drive is faulty.
If there was internal fried parts it would most likely ylod because the ps3 detects errors. Thats why I think something like a port of HDD is just broken and not the cpu/gpu
