Actually I just found a good website that helped me out. Crucial.com allowed me to just put in my manufacturer, and model and told me what RAM I should get, and what my PC can handle.

My Dell Dimension E520 can hold 4 slots of DDR2 with a maximum of 1 gig per slot. It recomended the following, does this sound reasonable, or should I be getting something else? It says the price is 31 dollars.

1GB  240-pin DIMM

  • Module Size: 1GB
  • Package: 240-pin DIMM
  • Feature: DDR2 PC2-5300
It said this about the manufacturers specifications of my PC.
  • Graphics Support:   PCI Express x16
  • Maximum Memory:   4096MB
  • Slots:   4 (2 banks of 2)
  • Standard Memory:   512MB removable
  • USB Support:   2.x Compliant
