All fanboys use what we call "damage control", but the PS3 fanboys in particular seem to be the worst of the bunch in this regard. Maybe that's just because there are more PS3 fans at this site than Wii and 360 so it just seems that way.. I think they just expected the lift from the PS3 slim and price cut to be everlasting in the sales charts, and once sales started to again fall back down to earth they didn't know how to handle it.
First they started with "shortages!" despite the fact that PS3s were available through several online retailers during those weeks, particularly the $400 model, which was rarely sold out. Not saying there weren't shortages at some points to some degree, they just weren't nearly as bad as people made it out to be.
Now that the shortages are dealt with, but sales are still low, they need a new way to damage control.. That's just my crazy theory anyway.
