I don't understand this attitude. Gaming today kicks the shit out of those generations in so many ways!

In... graphics, and that would be about it. The 5th and 6th generations are far more heavy on good Japanese stuff which defines console gaming for me... this gen, Japan has dropped the ball a a lot resulting in a rather bad generation. Also, anything done this gen could also be done in the last, too... albeit with worse graphics.

P.S: The Gamecube was awesome and still is!

This generation has seen far more genre experimentation, establishment and proliferation of new and interesting IPs, seriously amped up quality of writing in almost every genre where that sort of thing counts....

I mean shit I'd take my collection from this generation over my collection from every other generation.

How can you dismiss the efforts of Japan so easily? Have you seen the DS? Have you seen what Nintendo is doing? It's a brave new world ripe for exploration, if you're willing to dig your hands into it!

Everything you said I completely agree with. Up until this gen, gaming was a fun little thing to do while friend's were over, now it's my main source of entertainment next to movies and friends. I never took gaming seriously, because it was like most developers didn't put as much effort into their games. When I compare the crap I played last gen to the games I've played in this one, the quality is much higher and I think it's because of the amount of competition in the industry.

P.S. The DS kill's the Gameboy and the GBA.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
