I think people should be glad Nintendo is holding its own. If it ever came down to them quitting the HW business, they wouldn't join forces with MS or Sony, but would likely form up with Apple, who would in turn eliminate all competition, like they have done in the portable music sector and cellphone sector. It'd end up becoming a 1 console generation within 2 generations from now.
Diversity isn't a bad thing. Hell, asthe Sony heads said "Get another job" if you want more than one console
