Yes, 200 Euroes in 2009 was fair. At one point they had to increase the cost (in the UK only I believe) due to how poorly the Yen was doing. They weren't making a profit any more. Crying that Nintendo is ripping you off is just a sad copout as a last ditch effort to strike out against a company that is doing a brilliant job providing the content people want at the price they want. They even admitted that they thought about selling the system at $300 during launch, but then decided a cheaper price was better. The fact that they couldn't keep the product on the store shelves is enough evidence that the price is reasonable. Also Considering there is no equal competitor you can't really claim they are overpriced either. Sony failed at this with their $600 machine that was a horrible price to start with. Besides, you really think Sony wanted to give you a good deal on the system? All they really wanted you to do was buy their overpriced Blu-ray and game discs. Heck, they have the highest liscensing fees for games. So why aren't you crying about them ripping you off for game costs?

#1, and lets start by that crying thing. I only "raged" once because I was starting to get stupid replies on this thread, and it's extremly annoying when people manipulate what I'm trying to say to make me look like the worst sony fanboy on Earth. Another thing that annoys me, is when basically people just make false assumptions about me. The usual, "if you're not on my side, then you're my enemy" and therefor, I'm nothing more than a Nintendo hater.

#2, about the nunchunk, and now this is what I was refering to, if you simply cared to read just one or two of my previous posts, you could have easily noticed that I used to have a Wii (no longer have it, but that doesn't matter). The thing is, I had to buy a second controller, and that controller, not the one that comes with the Wii, didn't have a nunchunk. "it helps to do some research before you make an argument" Lol at the irony...

#3, I made some research (like you asked =P) and it was actually 250€, not 200€ (the price cut only happened in September). 250€ is something like... 330$. I really made a big mystake on all of my posts, should have just sticked to € instead of using $ and €. But anyway, even if it isn't very cheap to release products in Europe, I really can't see how it could be 80$ more expensive per Wii. Well actually, all countries in Europe get ripped off by everyone. Except the UK.

Replace "Sony" by Nintendo and you'll get my opinion about that - they probably made the math and knew that a 250$ console would be more appealing, and therefor it would give 'em more money.

#5, 600$ might be too much money for a console, I can understand that. And most great games only started to show up on 2007/08, so you can say that Sony did bad on the early years. And yh, I think that Sony gave me a good deal - the software is pretty damn good, at least in my opinion, and besides that, the hardware is reliable and the most advanced on consoles (of course that doesn't mean anything if it doesn't have good games). If someone sells me a car for 6000$, even tho it costed 8000$ to make, then at least in my head, it's a good deal... specially because it does stuff that other cars don't XD

1) wasn't aimed at you, but everyone who claims that nintendo is evil because they didn't lose money while selling a console while Sony did.

2) sorry I interpreted that a console should come with a nunchuck as a controller should come as a nunchuck. Next time say what you mean. Either way, they would charge $60 for a Wiimote/Nunchuck combo which really isn't that expensive compared to the $54 PS3 controller. However, you don't need a nunchuck for most games, so why force it on a customer? seems like a good idea to me.

3) you asked about a price, and it was the price. As for 250 eruo != $330. You have a ~20% VAT. This places it at ~$270 which an extra $20 for distribution in PAL territories is understandable.

4) I don't deny they wanted to make more money, everyone does, but they didn't intentionaly overprice it in case it only sold 10m to the Nintendo faithful. Nintendo themselves thought they would only sell 20m units lifetime (like all the analysts) hence the horrible shortages as they had to ramp up production facilities.

5) I don't even know why we are talking about Sony costing so much, but people keep using it as a poor example of why Nintendo are a bunch of greedy bastards. Sony was just as greedy, but they failed and instead lost money. Again, if someone sold you a car for $6000 (rather than 8k) and then forced you to do all the work at their shop and charged more than anyone else, would you feel you got a good deal? Thats how the PS3 works. You have to buy their PS3 software which they charge more from 3rd parties than anyone else. It's just that the costs are hidden with the games rather than being right up in your face. In the end, Neither company makes me feel like I got more value for my $, mostly because I waited until I got the PS3 for $300 which is a much more reasonable price for a blu-ray player & game system. Espeically because the PS3 failed as a multimedia system and I ended up building a HTPC to repalce it (with the exception of Blu-ray)

1) I apologize then, I thought it was directly aimed at me lol And just for the record, I don't hate companies for being succeful.. ok except Activision.

2) And now I could say "250€ for a wii is expensive in my opinion" and therefor Nintendo could improve the original pack, starting by giving another controller - because that's the point of having a Wii right? Playing with friends offline. And then you'd say "but 250€ isn't expensive at all" and we'd start all over again lol

3) To be honest, nothing of that changes the fact that I have to pay much more than you for a Wii. But that happens to all (at least to most) products, the difference is that I couldn't possibly expect Sony to lower the PS3's price in Europe because they were already losing money per each console made. Nintendo wasn't.

4) I remember hearing Nintendo's Wii expectations were that it would sell over 80 millions. Hm... Maybe it was in late 2006/early 2007 (not before the Wii's release). But anyway, it isn't really fair to have to pay for a company's mystake.

5) Me neither to be honest.. And I didn't really understand that analogy. Well I understood it, but it doesn't make much sense... PS3's games are like... 10€ more expensive than the Wii's one? So what, one uses a blu-ray disc, it must be more expensive. Besides, PS3s games cost just as much as 360 games, at least in Portugal (70€). I have no reasons at all to complain about Sony. They didn't force me to buy a PS3 for 600€, I decided I wanted to, and I certainly don't regret it.
