Why it won't work with the PS3 ? Easy.
N64 (Mar 97) : 6.12M
N64 (Mar 98) : 16.14M (YAY ! x2.64 !)
N64 (Mar 99) : 23.08M (x1.43 !! THIS IS MADN... oh, wait...)
N64 (Mar 00) : 29.57M (x1.28 !? OMG, where is the 10 year lifecycle ? and the 100M consoles ??)
N64 (Mar 01) : 32.42M (x1.1... I miss the good ol' 2x multiplier... :( )
As the PS3 is seen as the Sony's N64 (many similarities), A x2 multiplier wouldn't mean anything specially good for them.
