I think Clegg is saying the best things so far, Cameron is just pandering and Gordon is barmy.

pandering?  interesting word

you mean is saying the thing that he thinks the masses want to hear?

exactly, he always does that, says what he thinks (I dont think it will much of the time, or he would do much better in opinion polls) will win him votes rather than being honest and spelling out policy commitments. (they all need to do the last one more)

so if he is pandering to the masses then he thinks and you think that the masses dont want full european integration...

Unfortunately public opinion is not always the best course of action that a country should take. I would rather have a leader who fought for what was right and not what was popular.

he still has to get that mandate from the people... otherwsaie he gets kicked out or has to become a dictatorship

I despise the politics of "I know best", thats the real elitism in the Uk right now.  The liberal elite saying we know best... makes me ill.

The problem is that some people do know what is 'best' much more than other people. That may sound 'elitist' but you can't deny it's true. Of course a government should represent the people but it should also fight for what is best for the people and unfortunately the two do not always go together.
