I wouldn't be surprised at how much obesity costs the NHS, in fact, it's fairly obvious. I was actually referring to your over-population comment.
In fact, it's falling lifestyle conditions (symptoms being obesity), and medical breakthroughs that are the biggest influencers on the rising costs. If costs were only rising because population was rising, then everything would be fine, as the taxation drawn in by the population increase would be enough to cover the increased costs.
