You should really reading this before hyping PS3 3D again.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalf...-ps3-3d-article
Summary:
- Games already released will have their resolution and frame rate halved in order to work with 3D. Howmany 1080p, 60 hz games are out on PS3?
- Or games will need to have features like split screen thrown out and be heavily optimized (motostorm demo)
- This optimization will have to be done by the developer. Howmany developers are going to pour money in to a closed game for 3D optimizing?
In any case, 3D gaming is going to be quite a niche gaming experience to make any market impact. There just won't be many games supporting it...

Link doesn't work.
I've heard those criticisms before, but considering the games that are going to be 3D at release (WipeoutHD and Motorstorm: PR), those games never took advantage of the SPU's in the first place, or at least not nearly as much as Uncharted 2 etc. I'd like to wait and see how the 3d process works before presuming it's just having to render the image twice - surely there's a more efficient way?
As for whether it is a console seller or not, it's something the 360 and wii do not have and so certianly an advantage in tht way. Sure, you need a 3D ready TV, but I do know a fair few people with 200Hz TV's, and I'm sure it will help sell at least a few consoles in the long run.
Plus 3D bluray. Now that'll really be a big advantage over the competition.

Sorry about the link: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-making-of-ps3-3d-article
You have a few concepts about 3D confused.
Not just any 200/240 hz TV supports 3D on PS3. Infact none of them do... Only Samsung has a few on Sale so far which came out 3 weeks ago. All 3D capable TVs are still coming...
Also, there is a more of an efficient way of doing 3D. Its called 2D to 3D conversion. A few LG and Samsung do this on the fly and this works with Wii and 360 games too. For PS3. its either 1/2 the res and frame rate or that. There really isn't a 3rd option.
And lastly, compared to what is offered in 3D on the PC...PS3 will need to come out with all guns blazing to capture any attention of that gaming community. People on the PC are playing games like Metro 2033 and Resident Evil 5 in perfect and amazing quality, at 1080p with 3 monitors surround vision. PS3 so far seems to be offering a few ok titles at 720p...and that just won't cut it.
And second lastly, 3D bluray for PS3 is its biggest advantage. I may buy one if they support checkerboard 3D TVs from 2009... :)

The only special part of a 3D TV is that it is 120Hz. What prevents a faster TV doing 3D?
The only thing with 360 and wii doing 3d is that who holds the rights to the 3d glasses and gaming? Would be surprised if Nvidia didn't.
The difference with PC 3d gaming is that Nvidia's new cards suck ass, and the old ones aren't perfect when it comes to 3d gaming, but yeah, if PS3 is noticably inferior, it'll be written off as a gimmick.
