With all the news that spread throughout Internet about the new iPhone, the successful launch of the IPad, the upcoming "gaming center" and the growing of the AppStore, is really Apple trying to infiltrate the gaming industry? It might be flash mini-games, but with the success of their handhelds, the demand will increase and they will have to create deeper and more complex games.
What do you think about the expansion of Apple in the gaming industry? Will VGchartz compile someday the sales of the Apple's systems? Will the gaming industry recognize Apple as a new entry?
I'll take a guess and say that Apple will enter the market if NPD and other market researcher are able to retrace the sales of softwares.
Are people recognizing Ipod/Pad as gaming systems? I don't think so. But Apple is becoming a treat since the Ipod begins to substitute the purchase of a DS or PSP as an opportunity cost for some people.
But again, softwares need to be improved further. I think that games need to be the main point of the Ipod to bring recognition to the system as a "gaming" one.
When will Apple's systems be recognized as gaming handhelds? 2012?
