People in general don't like change and are prepered to play, watch and listen to the same old shit no matter how many times it is repackaged and resold to them.

Therefore GTA will continue.

This is the kind of pretentious garbage that hurts the forum.

On topic:

You're assuming that everyone was disappointed with GTA4, and that it was some kind of huge disaster. I disagree completely. I had a very fun time with the game, and I went in with high expectations. Was it as good as the reviews said? No, no game would be. I didn't think Ocarina of Time lived up to the reviews, nor Super Mario Galaxy. 10/10 scores across the board are never very representative of a game's quality.

And you're also assuming that Rockstar has done everything they can with GTA. I apologize if you weren't actually making assumptions, but whatever. There are plenty of things left to do in GTA. That's the great thing about open world, sandbox titles: there's always the opportunity for more features and more fun things to do. Calling GTA4 a "disaster" is just silly.

Red Dead Redemption, even if it has a similar style, is hardly a replacement for GTA. The Grand Theft Auto franchise is massive. It's among the top ten selling videogame franchises EVER, and it did that it only 2 generations. Plus, GTA4 (combined) sold more than Vice City. That's pretty impressive given the much lower userbases of the PS3 and 360 combined.
