I mean, all those fetch quests; they do nothing! what if, after fetching some resource, the terrans/zergs/toss were able to build a new NPC marine/Sunken Tower/Carrier? That would then go out on missions to attack the enemy?
At least in high-level areas, it would be awesome to look up and see a horde of mutalisks coming to fight your teams' wraiths, while jumping into your Goliath character to help them out. Also, why should buildings/NPCs/cities be immune to destruction? I mean, if my guild were *really* raiding Origammar, I would be able to raze important buildings that would then need to be rebuilt before they could be used again.
The fusion of MMORPG and RTS would probably be enough to get me addicted again. I do think that the Starcraft world would make more sense for this than either the Diablo world or the Warcraft world would.

If they make what you describe, that would probably be the coolest game ever made. Plus it would be awesome to have 3 teams instead of two like in WoW. I would buy it. |
They kind of did. In Shadowbane, players created their own cities where they placed walls, shops, and trainers as they chose. Players could attack other player-made strongholds, use seige weapons, and ultimately destroy enemy kingdoms. It was a great idea, but very poorly executed. Lag and several game issues caused the game to tailspin into a pit of failure. My server was taken over by one guild within 3 or 4 months. Kind of ruins the game when that happens. I tried playing it again while it was free with a former guild. Most issues were fixed, but it wasn't worth it. Plus the game was practically taken over by Chinese! :P
