Not to mention the obvious, sales and awards the game got, but every series they worked on previously has came in 3 parts.
I'm pretty sure from the get-go they would have been working on the series, from a story standpoint as a trilogy.
I'd rather see a HD boxset of the Jak and Daxter series than Uncharted 3 though.
