People have been paying for the Apple name blindy for a very long time. Evil empire, maybe. New, no.

At least people choose Apple, while they accepted Windows, and before it, MSDOS, preinstalled for decennia without discussing. The evil empire is still MS, maybe Apple is just the posh side of the dark side of the Force.
