I believe that Ubisoft has killed Splinter Cell, and that we have lost something beautiful, that will never be regained.

Upset the latest Splinter Cell is not on the PS3?

Are you accusing me of being a fanboy?

i think is he was that upset having the ability to play Uncharted 2 would make it all go away....FAST

anyway on topic, they seem simuler...is that a bad thing?

I can't find a clip of it, but ironically Ubisoft was emphasizing in their little interview/documentary things they always do, that Sam was OLD in Chaos Theory. They emphasized how he now groaned with every movement, and how he was becoming more and more worn out. The gameplay was slow, and Ubisoft themselves emphasized it. The tone and gameplay also emphasized non-lethality. "I don't enjoy killing, but I'll do what needs to be done", instead of the door exploding shotgun killing bullshit I showed.

Combat was also supposed to be very hard. You had a very slow camera movement when you shoot, it's impossible to strafe, etc. You also barely had any body armor, so 1-3 shots and you were down...

I'm guessing you haven't play the original 3 Splinter Cell games?

lol, i had alway's loved the Idea of using stealth as a main weapon in the game, that's what attracted me to it. just like MGS splinter cell both used Stealth as a weapon in their abilities as a main core mechanic of the basis of the game. I agree with the way it's going you are no longer getting that very same feeling. I am not a big fan of the direction that ubisoft has taken Sam but while i do think they wanted to shake thing's up a bit to kind of make Sam more relient on his skill's of his spec op's training sort of like jason bourne. the stealth mechanic is thinly veiled like you have in some espionage book's. there is sometime's no matter how much skill you have there would be no way to employ such stealth in such a mission. sometime's time is of the essence the character is forced to take action's that may be  contrary to his core character.

So... do you agree that Conviction preserved enough of the original to be considered a Splinter Cell game or not?
