I guess so are the people who sell guns or the department stores that sell kitchen knives.
Just because someone decides to use the opened system to commit piracy doesn't warrant anyone here labeling the original hacker as a thief or accomplice.
Back in the PS2 days there was a mod chip called "Crystal Chip". The creators did not endorse piracy and shipped all chips with firmware that only allowed for the use of homebrew because they locked out the use of backups and such. It was open to the ability of custom firmwares though and we soon had custom CC firmware that allowed for all of those homebrew uses as well as opened up the ability to load backup discs.
Should we blame the Crystal team? No, we should blame those who made the custom CC firmware. |
well in the case of the crystal team they at least tried to make sure that those who entered the door they opend behaved properly many hackers don't do that. You're more likely to get people to agree that some hackers are good instead of trying to get people to think only some hackers are bad.
