Keep in mind... the "left/right" divide is mostly economics only.

I imagine it's because of four issues.

I feel like even while independent, funding television stations could make them dependent on the government, who could then make them not independent.

If someone just outright refuses to work when they can, i'm not sure the government should take care of them. Of course practically there is no way to single out these people unless you have a "work for welfare" government program, where you work a job for the government say, 3 days a week for your welfare check... (Which may actually help.)

Charity being better then social security... since social security is just taxes taken out of your paycheck to force you to save, where you could of used that money earlier or even invested it better. Social Security in the US works based on how much you made over a 20 year period, so the poorest Americans may not even qualify.

And that I think the rich are being taxed too high. Of course I think everyone is being taxed too high... we should be getting a lot more out of our government then we do right now for what we pay.
