EDD is a nightmare to estimate, because you never know what they are doing. Windows 7 phones, Natal and Kin certainly required some investments. God only knows what other devices they are working on.

Well the investments didnt just happen in the past qtr so I wouldnt expect they would make much difference now. Although in the upcoming months they hope to change the investments into revenue/profit.

Those things like WinMo7, Kin and Natal need to be released first. Until then they are just investments and those cost a lot of money (R&D). Sure they are promising and I am certain that WinMo 7 and Natal will make a profit, but that takes a while.

My point was that the investments have been going on for many months. They didnt just start on January 1, 2010. This has been a point of many a discussion about EDD over the past couple of years. As Windows Mobile has been in investment mode big time over past several quarters as Windows Mobile lost marketshare to iPhone and Android. EDD has remained profitable because of Xbox 360 business. With the Danger aquisition starting to build and sell actual product (Kin line) and Windows Mobile 7 looking real good and coming out this fall the EDD outlook for FY2011 should be real good.
