Please don't turn this into a PC shooter thread, I've seriously had enough of elitist trying to cram their opinions down my throat on this website.

You're going to face resistance to this article. Partially because people who love PCs don't like having their toes stepped on and partially because the article is full of massive holes in its logic.

It compares Pac-Man to Contra. I'm willing to guess that I'm a fair amount older than you and the "issue" was with the transition to home gaming consoles, not the game itself. Even then, the "issue" was largely non-existent.

The article talks up the fallicies of run-n-gun gameplay but doesn't point out that it's a lot of fun to play that way. It tries to make a point out of a few lackluster games (Metroid being the exemption) and portray them as victims of a cruel world that just doesn't understand their brilliance.

You know what? That argument works wonderfully for games that don't suck. When they do, it just sounds like a contrarian opinion for the sake of being contrarian.

With that said, I actually agree that the potential of the Wii to have outstanding shooters is extraordinary.

Thats pretty much what I was trying to say in my opening post. Realism should never be brought into the argument for video games because video games are, contrary to the belief of some people in this thread, not realistic no matter the interface you use. The number one factor should be fun, if its more fun to run and gun versus to meticulously load a single bullet into your gun at a time so be it, damn realism.

Of course motion controls are the future just as virtual reality will be 20 years from now but that doesn't take the fun away from shooters that use dual analog just as Super Mario Bros is still fun despite 3-D platforming. The wii controller is far from perfect for shooters. That perception might change if a developer can create a game with the wii controller that truly feels natural and fun to use. The wii has yet to find its Halo.
