Symbian is huge in Asia and Europe, and dismal in America, mainly because U.S. operator preferred domestic manufacturers like Motorola (remember RAZR which was mediocre yet very popular) in the past, or RIM and Apple nowadays. As market research firms tend to look into american market only, these boards see only a part of the picture. On global market, however, it's Samsung and Nokia who roll the ball.
