Ken's animes are so far back in the past that nostalgia and idealized memories risk making a sequel disappointing amongst most fans. When reality isn't even worse, like Maxwell Smart, Starsky & Hutch, Scooby Doo and most other remakes that actually really sucked, they didn't just look bad due to excessive expectations. Just look how differently Nintendo handles Mario, yes, maybe sometimes they milk him a little bit too much, but they continuously refresh him, so that his appeal isn't excessively warped by nostalgia, and they can count also on a continuous stream of new fans, not only on old nostalgic ones.
