Why not get a monitor seperate? You can easily get a 24" HDMI compatible monitor for pretty cheaply, or alternatively you can get a TV. To have that capability on a laptop is pretty rare / non existant. They did not anticipate your wanting to use the monitor inside a laptop to display other content.
