Let me give this topic a second go:

toastboy, you said WRPGs are more advanced and are therefore better, right? You should really explain what you are referring to. I think many people did miss the point of this thread. I agree with you about WRPGs, I like them more. But you should probably be specific.

When I said those things, I meant that a WRPG is better at telling a story, it doesn't go to a cutscene like a JRPG, you play the story. WRPGs are open world,  gives you things to do once the game is finished and is generally better tech. A WRPG id basically an open world JRPG with better controls and more replayablity

Eh.....some of those are still pretty subjective though:

- Better tech? Again, you'd have to be more specific.

- Better controls? Depends on the player.

- The cutscenes bit seem to be more a style choice rather than a flaw. Then again, that's just me.

by better tech I mean better textures and more enemies on screen on once (Not a cutscene)

by better controls I mean simpler, I hate scrolling through a bunch of moves in jrpgs. in wrpgs all i have to do is hit on button

I like consistancy, I hate average looking games with amazing cutscenes

Most of that still fits perfectly into a subjective opinion. The tech stuff (particuarly more enemies) is probably just a preference. Still doesn't determine which is "more advanced, better, etc, etc....". We'd need to know what all goes into creating these titles.

more work and better tech=more enemies on screen - not necessarily

less work and worse tech=less enemies on screen - again, not necessarily

I don't see what is the confusion...

Also, they couldn't even bring towns in FF13 (Probably best jrpg), and if you look into and wrpg these days theres town everywhere - One thing has nothing to do with the other. Just because towns are missing in XIII, doesn't mean they can't be done in future JRPGs.

My take.

yes, they could have put towns in FF13, but how many years would that have taken them?

If you look at fable 3 (Which is being made in 2 years), im sure it has town in almost every single map (Not dungens). Also, fable 3 has better textures from videos i've seen and it has co-op, and they said it has more to do once you finish the game. imo, FF13 quality doesn't even touch mass effect 2/fable 2 quality. but thats just my opinion and everyone has their own i guess...
