Plenty of people said the same thing about Nintendos casual software in the beginning. Its irrelivant if you consider them proper games or not, they are games and they are selling and Apple is making big bucks without really even trying because its all the 3rd parties and independants doing the work for them.
Although I do not thing the mobile and handheld gaming sectors are the same thing. They will co-exist, not destroy each other.

There is a big difference between nintendo games and some lil phone games tho. Its like saying some lil keychain games thing like that old donkey kong is a competitor.

Define a proper game then.
They certainly aren't as good in regards to the quality of Nintendos games but very few "proper" games developers are either. And I didn't say they were direct competitors, I personally think the two segments of the "mobile market" eg the handheld makets and the phone markets can co-exist. But to dismiss apple is silly as the games sector is becoming increasinly profitible for them.
