Proved once again.. another 12 year old boy who doesn't understand that when OEMs talk about sales, they talk about sales to (re-)distributors, not end users. The numbers given are perfectly in line with what was happening at that time point. What _is_ actually interesting is the fact that they were only able to ship 200000 units per week into the regions, that is only around 10-15% more than were actually sold. We could tentatively conclude that Sony has some problems with channel-stuffing for Xmas and distributors seem to be hesitant ordering larger quantities. What happens if a company has not enough channel-stuffing capacity we can see with Nintendo's Wii: Some areas are constantly near out of stock while other areas are constantly overstocked.. simply not enough product available to channel stuff evenly.

The retail channel is full, total full. Shipped shoud be therefore very near to sold, and it is.
