I see what you are saying and I like your car analogy. However this is where I get stuck. Copyright laws aside of course.

Using the car analogy, you have something along the lines of a self-built Ferrari to Apple's Honda for the same price. I mean yes, the Honda will be much better in conserving gas and may have more luxury features, like cup holders, than your Ferrari, but I would be hard pressed to think of a single person who would take the Honda over the Ferrari at the same price. Hell, make it one of those Lexuses that comes with things that park for you, and I'd still be hardpressed to find people to take Apple's car over the self made Ferrari.

In my car analogy, the Mac Book Pro was the Ferrari, and almost every other laptop was the honda.

Considering you can build very powerful machines for the same amount of money you can buy an ok mac, I'd put the ferrari firmly in the non-mac corner and the one with all the random luxury items in the Apple corner.

For your "Apple fanboys just buying a name" argument, we are talking laptops. No one makes there own laptop.

Ah alright, however all that holds true still. I can buy a notebook of greater power than I can an Apple for the same price.
