If I made geohot sound like some Robin Hood hero of the people, that was not my intention.  Geohot IS a douchebag, I should have been more clear.  He's just 1 one millionth the douchebag Sony is, and the fact that your ire is reserved specifically for him is troubling to me.

 

I don't think you should thank him, but my point was that his douchebaggery benefits normal people while Sony's douchebaggery benefits billionaires at normal people's expense.  Relatively speaking, I think geohot is the lesser of the two evils by a wide margin.

What I find troubling is you are comparing what every company in the world does, to a hacker, who exploits what hardworking individuals did for his own benefits.  All Sony is doing is trying to protect an investment, yes they only exist to make money off of me,  but in return I am still getting a product that I will enjoy because I bought it for that purpose.  Geohots actions could prevent me from getting those products if piracy becomes an issue on the PS3 like it has the PSP.   His being a douchebag benefits only him and pirates, and it hurts everyone else in the industry.
