As I said above, that's my gripe not only with WoW, but with MMOs in general. I dislike MMOs as they're not what i'm looking for in a RPG. I've never been much of a fan for online gaming, so PvP and other things don't interest me, which takes a lot of the appeal away from WoW, to me.

Oh, I only brought FF up because it's a popular example of a game that does depend on story (and I've been playing it!).
When I say games do not require stories, I mean just that. Not all games need a story to be good - in fact, the most successful games of all time have little to none (Sim games, Wii Series, Mario, Tetris, etc).
I don't mean to say that all games should have no story. Obviously, I enjoy plenty of these as well. I just got my bro addicted to Ace Attorney (making me replay them all over again...).

The "casual" hater, eh? I don't think any major game should appeal to you, because the game you want is too extreme for most gamers. The vast majority prefer the changes Blizzard made, directed at the "casuals." I'm one of them, actually - not that I'm terrible at the game (not even close), but I simply don't have as much time or desire to play as much as others do.
Thankfully, nowadays it takes little to fully gear up a character, so I don't really have to worry about falling behind.
