The next version of the ipad, however, would probably tip my favor the other way.

Why is that?

What do you think the next one will have, that will change your mind?

I just got back from seeing one in person and I can see a few areas for improvement.

The first issue I have with the ipad is the screen. I was looking at my own reflection for a good amount of time. Outside in the sunlight, it was nearly impossible to see the screen (kindle does a little better outside).

The screen got smudged fairly quick. Even with completly clean hands there was a bit of difficulty keeping the screen print free. You can't just wipe it like a phone because the screen is big.

The ipad has no rubber feet. It slid a bit when i was messing around on it.

You'll need a carrying case for it because it's too big to carry in your pocket but it doesn't close on itself like a laptop/netbook making it very confusing to travel about with.

the RAM could be an issue but it didn't really impede my experience.

The battery life is awesome so i have no problem with that.

The fact that it can only run one application at a time was a bit of a let down. I would like a bit more.

The upscaling of old iphone apps was sort of bad, but again that isn't a huge issue. The price for ipad apps being higher does sorta bother me though.

And last- the ipad is more for using instead of creating. You can't really expect to do much writing on it like a netbook. It's good if you want to browse/watch vids/tweet/read email/read books/etc.

All of these issues could probably be addressed in the ipad2.0
