Much like the DS and the Wii, the iPad is more about interface, user experience, and power management than brute power. If power is what you need, then Apple will sell you a MacBook Pro.

The iPad is specced like a smartphone because smartphones are now powerful enough to perform about 90% of the functions that people use their computers for. Apple is betting that the improved battery life, interface, and portability of the iPad will offset the fact that a netbook can do 95% of the functions that people use computers for.
