I've never had problems with dual analog FPS, I just don't own a single one that uses dual analog in my libary but I've played dual analog shooters with people for years now with Halo being the first one that made a good use of it. It will never be as good as a mouse, in a literal sense too, not an opinion. It's an invisible wall that dual analog will never make through.
