I'd like to know how you can claim a proper spelling of a translation from a different language.  And lots of very old words had variant spellings back in the day. 

Also, Wikipedia has a very different account of the origin of the "k", though your group may have arrived at it differently. 

Not to mention if we started doing things the original way we'd all be speaking like old english or something.  Although not Old English since i oddly think that was another language?  Eh i'm not sure... entymology i'm not so good at.  Not good at languages in general.
