The demographics aren't that different. Shooters are some of the best selling titles on both consoles. Also, the gap isn't big enough for Xbox 360 to dominate the PS3. I mean this isn't PS2 vs original Xbox.

CGI said more PS3 fans are buying software, not that PS3 fans are buying more software.  Which is consistent with the line you countered with about the influx of new owners purchasing games.  Not that I think that's the whole story, because it's not like PS3 is selling THAT many more consoles each week to account for the PS3's amazing software sales of the recent past...that's also due to the continuous software releases of late, so yes, it's *also* true that PS3 fans are just buying more software.
