If you ask me, the reason Sony has thrown so much money at software development is in hopes of creating a franchise as popular as GT, Halo, CoD, etc.

They haven't done it yet and I don't see it happening this decade either.

So much money? are you on crack? Their 2 best games have the same budget as 1 Natal game from THQ. And Natal doesn't have the user base as ps3 (probablly will never have Ps3s current user base) and I highly doubt THQ would expect Halo type numbers. Good try though.

BTW - Those are the only 2 games we really know the budget for and I doubt sony would green light games for much higher than that considering ND is a proven developing company. (oh sorry. excluding PD in this comment since their sonys bread and butter and GT5's budget is just a little bigger than that THQ game anyway)

What games are you talking about?

Both Uncharted 1 and 2 had 20 million dollar budgets for a grand total of 40 million. Thats a high budget game no doubt but not a budget that would indicate "thrown so much money at software in hopes to sell 10 mil +"

Hell, Heavenly Sword and Lair also had similiar budgets. Do you really think those developers even thought their games had as much appeal as the 10 mil club? Hell no... did they think their game would sell better than they did? Probablly.
