Apocalypse is a story written in response to the reign of Emperor Nero. Every letter in the Hebrew alphabet also represents a number. Add all the letters of Kaisar Neron together and you get 666. What a surprise. Apocalypse is written in a time where there was turmoil in the Roman empire(especially for the early christians) hence why they thought the world was coming to an end. Supervolcanos and asteroids have happened as well and it didn't end life on earth. Without the extinction of the dinosaurs we would have never existed. |
Last I checked, the book of Revelation was written well after Nero's reign, and contained specific language on specific events like asteroids hitting earth - which has not happened to the magnitude described in the book. I'm not arguing that it would end life on earth - just that it'd cause the devastaiton perscribed in the book.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
