They don't have to win from Nintendo to be worth releasing a handheld, PSP made big money to Sony mainly to profit from hardware and the software it sold(150kk games isn't little), Sony don't need to eclipse Nintendo to make money from handheld market. Just like Gamecube were at least as profitable to Nintendo as PS2 was to Sony even having sold only 1/4 of ps2.
