Shao Long Guis have 10M HP and have access to one of the most devastating attacks in the game, Ultima. Unless you have a SEN/SEN/SEN paradigm, he will kill you anytime he uses Ultima. Plus, he has the Bay attack which does approximatedly 12K damage and can Daze your entire party, leaving you wide open for Ultima or Quake, since Bay has no start up animation to warn you so you can switch to SEN/SEN/SEN.
The good side of the battle is that they're weak to a plethora of status effects such as Daze, Slow, Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, Curse and Poison.
