Over 3 years in, and the closet(which is not very) they have got is going through other OS. So..........

well it's because Geohot used a homemade Mod chip FPGA home made a board shocker and in conjunction with Linux was able to get to where he was able to hack part of the PS3 the Hypervisor.

Now that he's done that Mod chip's are most likely going to be released for the PS3.

so removing Install other OS was a way that Sony may now be able to Ban Mod chipped PS3's on PSN.

inorder to have Linux on your PS3 you would need to have 2 partition's, if while logging into PSN and it scan's your HARDDRIVE and look's for a 2nd partition

than PSN knows you have a mod chipped PS3. It would only need to scan the internal Hardrive looking for that second Partition to know if your Harddrive has Linux.
