That 8k on UC2 is very misleading. There are far more than that on at any one time. There may be something with regions or whatever, because I played a lot with polsk-kutasek (no jokes please), and one time he saw only 4k people on whereas mine said 16k people online. Our numbers would always vary too. I think there is some problem with player tracking on PSN, because even despite an average of 8k people being on at all times, it sometimes took 10 minutes to find people for a game...but IIRC they corrected that a couple months ago.
