The books generally have a large attack planned, with a whole bunch of war-related stuff going horribly wrong on the way to trying to plan that attack.

It shouldn't be too teenage for anything more than the first half hour or so, and even then, I think it will be well done.

The whole point of the series is that these young adults have to become full adults extremely quickly when Australia is invaded.

So, it like changes into a JRPG with gunblades and stuff and they have to save the world? Sounds neat!
