Way ahead of you, Nomura. Most westerners have been calling him gay for years now... along with most of the other FF characters.
Seriously though, this would be really interesting and potentially amazing if true -- depending on how he is actually portrayed within the game, of course. Bioware already (just recently) let you romance characters of either gender in one of their games, and it's made a lot of gay gamers really happy. Actually making a big mainstream game about a main character who is gay, however, is on a whole other level -- then you're actually asking straight gamers to identify with a gay hero, as well.
