Blue is the color I would have preferred also; it would tie in everything nicely. Not using green or a precious metal is easy, given MS, and Nintendo last gen used yellow, so that's another to avoid. I guess the red is still better than the green from the PS1, though...
And as for the cheap-ass comment, I can't see that, since some could perceive it to be talking about the quality of the games, which Sony obviously doesn't want to do.
