If I remember rightly, PS3 had huge production problems due to shortages of blu-ray diodes. That was the reason Europe did not did not see a November '06 launch.
As for it being a 'Good Thing' you didnt buy a PS3...hmm wernt they selling for $10,000 on ebay?
