Having a mandatory update to play game that would remove "otherOS" would go against law of many country. While if its only banning PSN, its all legal. If you try to find an article (I did), where Sony claim anything like your sentence, make sure its between "quotes". Journalist tends to exagerate things, like saying it wouldnt let you play newest games and bluray. |
Actually, they have not exagerated things. When Rachet and Clank Tools of Destruction came out, I believe we were on firmware 1.5. It required 1.51. Anyway, whichever firmware it was, the game could not be played online or offline of the PSN until updating. It won't be long until games are packaged with 3.21 update and will require you to install it before you can play it.
I have moved and do not have the internet at home, yet.
