Bottomline is, it's not Sony removing OtherOS. It's the user by choosing to install the firmware that is offered by Sony. Not doing so does have the consequence of not being able to play new PS3 games in the future, but until Sony advertises the PS3 being able to play new games following the update while still using the OtherOS feature, they they aren't violating any laws.
